This isn't too wild as these sorts of reveals happened in every MK game up until the reboot, and arguably continues with those endings. Taven never made it to the top of the pyramid, Shao Kahn and Raiden did. What MK 9 Reboot reveals is that Armageddon's Taven ending never happened. They're all over the place, and we often didn't learn which ending was canon (or which were canon in which ways) until the next game. However, many endings of the previous MK games are incorrect, partially correct, or correct.
